Atok, Benguet: Northern Blossom Flower Farm

Me and my friend,  Arnex decided to make a trip to Atok, Benguet and visit the flower farm there.

We went on the third week of February when the temperature dropped to 6 degrees Celsius.

A few days before the trip, I booked online the bus going to and from Baguio City. We chose Joy Bus Premiere of Genesis Busline. There are two booking sites to choose from: pinoytravel and iwantseats. I prefer the latter since you can choose your seats.

Joy Bus Premiere bus was super comfy and fast. It’s like riding an airplane. The seats have ample leg space, with a tablet that offers music and movies! Just be sure to bring your own headset. The bus also has a toilet. It also offers biscuits and a bottle of water inclusive of the P760 fare per pax. Clean and sealed blankets are also provided for. The trip is non-stop, so expect to be in Baguio from Manila and vice versa in 4 to 6 hours.

Here are photos of the bus:

We left the Pasay terminal around 1:30AM and arrived in Baguio at around 6:00AM.

From Baguio, we hailed a taxi going to the Dangwa bus station. From there we rode a UV Express Van going to Lepanto. Fare was P150. Be prepared to have motion sickness since the trip can be vomit-inducing. Take bonamine just to be sure. Be sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the Atok Municipal Hall for tourist registration. Walk a few meters down the town proper and ask for Lany’s farm or Blossom.

A few days before our trip, I called the owner of the farm Ms Lany to inquire about accommodations in the farm. She then gave me the number of Marlyn, who took my call and answered all my inquiries. I booked a room good for two, with hot shower for P1500 night. Entrance fee to the farm is P250 per pax which includes unlimited Atok brewed coffee and local Spanish and cheese bread.

During our visit, it was super cold. My hands froze during the sunrise watching when the temperature was 7 degrees. Indeed the place was awe-inspiring. It is advisable to at least stay overnight so that you can fully appreciate nature and the cool weather of Atok, Benguet. You can also buy fresh flowers at very cheap prices.

From Atok, you can again ride a UV express at Marosan eatery, just beside the Municipal Hall or wait for a bus going to Baguio city along the main road. In our case, we waited for the bus since there was no UV Express Van at that time. Bus fare was P85 per pax.

Happy travels!
